Rakhee – the Person and Personality

Rakhee Gupta, is an administrative officer who joined Indian Administrative Service in 1997.

The Punjab cadre officer is a recipient of Stree Shakti Puraskar for administrative skills, leadership quality and commendable work for the overall development of women conferred upon her by the President of India on International Women’s Day in 2011. A woman of substance, Rakhee Gupta  is a multifaceted personality who exhibits a rare combination of grit, responsibility, professionalism and dynamism.

Rakhee has the distinction of representing India while attending a Regular Session of the Human Rights Council held in Geneva, Switzerland. She made a statement on behalf of the Indian delegation. She also attended another Regular Session of the Human Rights Council held in Geneva on the Report of Working Group on enforced and involuntary disappearance of Indian citizens and concerning situation of human rights of families of fishermen in the coastal and marine area of Maharashtra.

She was honoured as a Woman Achiever by the Chief of Naval Staff on the release of Tarini – a documentary produced by National Geographic in 2019 and adjudged Woman of the Year 2019 with Le Extraordinaire Award for women achievers by Magicka (a group of lady entrepreneurs) in 2019.

The alma mater of Rakhee Gupta – LSR College for Women, New Delhi – also acknowledged her success. LSR celebrated her achievements with its distinguished Alumna Award in 2019. Alumna Award was given to Rakhee Gupta in recognition of her outstanding contribution in administrative skills, women empowerment, leadership quality, nation building and strengthening the ethos of democratic values.

Passionate about singing and music, Rakhee Gupta, has been an achiever throughout. She was awarded Delhi University Post-Graduate Scholarship, declared the Best Student in Psychology at Lady Sri Ram College for Women and was a University Rank Holder in BA (Hons) Psychology. At the school, she was awarded Scholar Badges for three consecutive years. She is proficient in English, Hindi, Punjabi and has the elementary knowledge of French and Sanskrit.

Stree Shakti Puraskar (now Nari Shakti Puraskar since 2015) is an annual award given by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Government of India to individual women or to institutions that work towards the cause of women empowerment. The awards are presented by the President of India on International Women’s Day (March 8) at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The awards were instituted in 1999 and were renamed and reorganised in 2015. There are given in six institutional and two individual categories, which carry a cash prize of rupees two-lakh and one-lakh, respectively.

Rakhee Gupta  was given the award under Rani Rudramma Devi Awards Category. Rani Rudrama Devi was a 13th-century ruler of Deccan Plateau.
